intro: Welcome back to the ship, peasants. We've been given a bit of a strange request. I have been hired to be the Narrator for a new story, but I am only to read parts of it to you at a time. I don't question when I'm being paid well, as we all know, so let's just settle in for the ride to our next planet, and get this over with.
one: This is the story of Hawthorne. This story begins with a strange basket left on the footsteps of an even stranger library. This strange basket held two things - and mewling, sleepy infant, and a small locket that played a tune when opened. It held no photos, no notes to claim the infant, and no more information. The infant did not even have a blanket. The infant, however, did not seem to mind.

two: The strange Library was cared for by a tall person who simply went by the name of Librarian. We are familiar with people who are named only by their titles, aren't we? This is not new to us. The Librarian gathered the infant up, and brought them inside the Library, and attempted to file the infant on an appropriate shelf. Unfortunately, there is not an appropriate shelf for an infant, and this Librarian, though frustrated by this, accepted that the infant would now have to live here, unshelved. A week later, the Library deposited a book about Hawthorne Berries and Their Uses under the infant's pillow, and Librarian took this cue to name the infant "Hawthorne."
